Early Americana at its finest! The Bennington Museum, a Yankee Magazine Editor's Pick, is one of the finest regional history and art museums in New England. The museum houses the largest public collection of Grandma Moses paintings and memorabilia, along with a large collection of military history and historical artifacts including the famous Bennington Flag, thought to be the oldest Stars & Stripes in existence. There are also uniforms and firearms, together with early tools, dolls, and toys. Also on exhibit is the "Wasp," a 1925 luxury touring car designed and built by Karl Martin in Bennington.

The Bennington Center for the Arts is a unique facility combining the visual and performing arts within one complex. Located to the west of Old Bennington, the Center's four continuous spaces appear as a series of white barns, topped with a Vermont slate roof. The Center provides 9,000 square feet of exhibit space in four galleries and a 350-seat theater. Since its opening in 1994, the Center has been host to several annual fine art shows, including Art of the Animal Kingdom, as well as many other traveling exhibits. The Center's permanent exhibits feature the Laumeister Collection of wildlife, Western, and Native American arts. The Center's continuing mission is to bring world-class artists and performers to Vermont so that visitors may experience more of the inherent beauty of life and of the natural world.
