Fallow Deer

Dama Dama

The spotted and multihued coat of the Fallow allows it to blend into their surroundings and will often stand motionless, only the movement of a flickering tail will give them away.

Fallow deer have long been a favorite of hunters, with British records stating that Norman royalty, with the Kings permission, could hunt Fallow deer in the 1100's. Their meat was considered fit-for-a-king.

Fallow bucks are easily identifiable with a prominent Adam's apple and the antlers are flattened with rounded points.

Fallow prefer open areas for grazing, with woodlands nearby for safety and safety in numbers.
