FAQs
Do I need a license to hunt at the Battenkill Preserve?
No. This is a privately owned preserve, so guests are permitted to hunt here without a state hunting license. However, be aware that our fishing excursions take place on public waterways (Lake George and Lake Champlain), where state and local licensing requirements do apply. We will gladly secure fishing licenses on behalf of our guests who wish to go on one of these excursions.
What are the hunting seasons for the various animals at the Preserve?
Again, because we are a private preserve on enclosed land, there are no formal hunting seasons regulated by the state. However, in the interests of wildlife conservation and the health of our stock, we reserve the right to limit the hunting of certain animals at designated times of the year.
